What Is the Difference Between Arabica and Robusta Coffee?

Arabica (Coffea arabica) and Robusta (Coffea canephora) are the two main coffee species. Arabica grows at high altitude, has more complex flavor (fruity, nuanced, sweet), lower caffeine (~1.2%), and more delicate aromatics. Robusta grows at lower altitude, has higher caffeine (~2.7%), more bitterness, rubbery flavor notes, and is used mostly in blends or cheap instant coffee. Torch Republic uses 100% Arabica for all blends — the result is noticeably smoother, richer coffee flavor.
